OTTAWA — Cathay Wagantall, Member of Parliament for Yorkton—Melville, had the honour of presenting eighteen King Charles III Coronation Medals to deserving members of the Yorkton-Melville region on October 17th at Yorkton’s Gallagher Centre.

“These individuals from all walks of life were nominated by their peers, neighbours, and grateful Canadians for their selfless service to others. It gives me immense pride to recognize their accomplishments,” said Wagantall.

In honour of The King’s Coronation, the Government of Canada established the King Charles III Coronation Medal program, which will see 30,000 Canadians recognized with the new commemorative medal. As a federal Member of Parliament, Wagantall was given the opportunity to present the Medal to recipients who have been nominated for their outstanding contributions to their community, province, and country. The ceremony was attended by medal recipients, their nominators, and their invited guests.

Wagantall presented a congratulatory certificate in addition to the medal. She noted that ceremonies of this kind are important in recognizing the often unsung contributions of Canadians.

“All the stories of service and achievement honoured tonight have helped built a better Saskatchewan and a better Canada,” she said.

“There are also many others deserving of the award who have not been nominated. I honour all acts, big and small, that have made such a lasting impact on our country.
